January discussion thread

Remember when your parents told you your dog got sent to a farm? This is that farm, except it's full of old monthly discussion threads.

Happy New Year! Probably post this again in January thread. Or maybe not. But have a nice one anyway. :-)

Oh, but we will. All of that.

I KNOW, I KNOW! Hence the gurgly face.

Thanks, bro. You've made me feel better.

The original version of Tennis must have involved hoverboards or cosmic rays or lightning spells or something. Pity.

Y'know, I'm really not liking the whole "Ultra-intelligent white man creates civilization for poor backwards natives who can't do anything for themselves" narrative we've got going on right now. Kinda rubs me the wrong way, even if Rad is supposed to be the villain in all this. I expected a lot better from Hastings in this regard.

He also left out the part where he kills Chuck.

This is King Rad's point of view on the whole thing. Of course it's going to paint him in the best possible light. And considering it was established long ago that the time portal was in the tunnels under Cumberland, and King Rad just went south from there, it would make no sense whatsoever for him to be creating an advanced civilization for anyone other than the natives who were there at the time. There were no white men in Central America at that point in time.

Original tennis must have had some captivating rules. I admire the devotion. God help them if they had ever made it to television.

They already had civilization. He just gave them pizza and sports.
