Comic Discussion Thread - May 2014

Remember when your parents told you your dog got sent to a farm? This is that farm, except it's full of old monthly discussion threads.

The hyenas were in Apula's cave, they could have fed on his body and became vampiric.

The hyenas can (now) talk.

Hyenas are matriarchal, an explanation for why they are turning only female gorillas.

I thought they were just killed, not turned.

According to the interviews, at least one female popped out of her grave after apparently being drained of blood.

With the coversation the gorillas had, I held hopes the gorillas were just fleeing and saving Doc in the process. Then they went and disappointed me.

Doc takes on Piranhas (or something). This should be good.

They probably figure that, after his victory against alpha ape, tearing Doc apart just makes him mad.

Wow, today's page reminds me of some old Steve Martin sketches on Saturday Night Live.

You are kinda ignoring the fact that the Hyenas were standing in the sun when Doc and Judy reached them, from the very same cave in that killed the original Ape-ula, and we were already proven that sunlight kills animal vampires.

Maybe but the skeleton was still intact. Isn't it an established canon that vampires turn to dust once killed, regardless of the method used to kill them?

The Doc-to-be said in previous page that ape-ula broke all the rules, including walking in sunlight (c.f. page 37). He then assumed that it was sunlight that killed the ape-ula. I wonder if he had forgot to wonder why skeleton isn't dust.

It might be that it is expected to find an intact skeleton if the vampire is killed by sunlight -- the doc was a bit too casual about the discovery of skeleton -- but there's still holes that I would be inclined to reserve judgment.

I honestly laughed out loud at the punchline here.

Also, why are his eyes white? Foreshadowing? A sign of age?
