I've been studying Django Reinhardt lately, so I drew him during a break. Just a quick scribble, but I am pretty pleased with it for what it is:

Most of all, I am still terrible at drawing hands. They looked mildly better when it was a pencil sketch, but only a very little.

Not sure where else to put this, and I abhor making unnecessary threads, so I'm plunking this right here. Don't mind the double post, that last one was over a month ago, so if anything, I'm closer to necromancy than postspamming.
Today, I've been working on a board game all afternoon with some friends. As in; Actually making the board game, rules and everything. It's called Manifest Destiny, and is a Risk/Axis&Allies-style strategy game following nine civilisations as they attempt to become the most powerful civilisation in the Americas.
The civilisations are Russia, France, Britain, the United States/American/Free British (The name's still in flux as yet), the Dutch, The Inca, the Spanish, the Portuguese and the Cherokee. Each group starts with a few territories in the Americas, surrounded by natives, and must carve for themselves an empire capable of standing up against the other eight powers in the two continents.
At the moment, we're still playtesting, and it really is early days. But we plan on playing again tonight, and work out better starting positions, unit costs, etc.

Since we like having dedicated threads for things, necromancy is rarely an issue. Better to revive a dead thread than have to have two threads.

Sounds pretty awesome. Kinda reminds me of the video game Civilization, which also had a board game version, except it wasn't very good. I always like big games like that. Maybe once you work out all the rules and pieces and all that you can share it online, so we can try it out. Or maybe just go into business - Hasbro is always looking for the next big board game, right?

Yeah, something like that.
Main thing is, though, that there are literally hundreds of board game companies, and literally thousands of board games. Currently, the two most popular board games, if I recall correctly, are about power companies and settlers building farms. So this will probably be just for our own enjoyment, and possibly for others, but not for business. Probably.
Gonna be a loooong way away from that, methinks. But we'll have fun along the way.

My friend amde a Vietnam War game. US vs. Vietcong. It was totally, broken, though, because Americans got held up by thick jungle spaces while Vietcong were unaffected. Makes sense, but she couldn't seem to balance that out, and the Vietcong always won.

I suppose for that you'd have to balance out the US having things like airstrikes, and helicopters, and things that can avoid the jungle. But then again, balance is always a hard thing to achieve. Currently for us Russia is so far from being a legitimate force that we're going to have to make some serious changes to make it viable as a force. And Armies are somewhat overpowered, so they're gonna need to change.

This is a really good description of the actual war.
