It's scary but if it helps, I can promise you one thing about college: you will meet new people. Lots of them. Everyone's in the same boat, and everyone tries to get to know each other because they don't know anyone. Face to face I'm not a loud, confident person to talk to and I know I take time making new friends because of it - but some of my absolute best friends are people that I met in the first few days of going to uni.

On the other side of that, it's not so easy to lose touch with old friends anymore. I still talk to my friends from back home and (apart from Liz!) the one I've made most effort to stay in touch with is the guy who's been my best friend for coming-up 12 years now.

...I guess what I'm trying to say is: if you don't like the look of the place/don't think it seems friendly and social, by all means don't go because you don't want to get stuck somewhere you don't enjoy yourself. But if it looks like a nice place, it's a good school and they're paying your way through, think about taking the plunge because once you're there, I promise you it's not as scary as it seems.

I don't know if that helps at all or just misses the point, but there you go. Good luck with the whole thing, anyway.

it all looked a lot better after i got some sleep, cos i think it helped me get rid of the "but it's 30k a year!" bias a bit. at this point i THINK i'm staying with my original choice, but i'm gonna do some more research on it

This has been going around.

For maximum effect, have your sound on, but I understand if you'd rather keep it off.

Mm, the sound is the only thing that got a reaction out of me. I wish I could read it, though, so I would know what to say/not say if we ever meet.

Yeah, I saw that. Didn't know there was sound, though... not sure I want to go back and listen :?

Did that a while back, pansied out with no sound. The first movement panel sent shudders through me and then I didn't read anymore

A spider just zip-lined down right next to my laptop. Oh god I hate them. I hate them so much.

I have had to kill several spiders in the last two days. I used to think it was because I had lived in a basement that spiders were everywhere, but now that I live in an apartment, I'm beginning to wonder if it's just me they are attracted to.
