If there were soul mates, Britney and Justin would be together. I ship them so hard, I'm not kidding. Makes me so sad they're not together. Ashlee Simpson and Ryan Cabrera, too. His "On the Way Down" video hurts my heart 'cause she's in it.

Soul mates? No.
Love? Yes.

I think that when you're getting to come to know someone and fall in love with them then that's either the best feeling or the worst feeling you can ever have, depending on how they feel about you. But agreeing with Shank, I wouldn't go out with anyone either if I didn't feel it was leading to marriage. Love, though, to me, is very important as it's a true gift that we can give to others, and when you find someone you truly love and want to spend the rest of your life with, what greater gift can you give them than your life and your love?

You can explain anything with science, eventually. The emotions caused by seeing a brilliant movie, hearing a stirring piece of music, or witnessing the breathtaking beauty of nature are all things that science can explain, but that doesn't devalue them any. There are plenty of people who think that science seeks to destroy illusions of beauty and humanity, but I think nothing could be further from the truth. I don't believe in destined soul mates because it's more fate than reality. I still believe you can learn to love anyone, and it can still be beautiful and wonderful.

It's like looking at a mountain scene, with jagged peaks, clear blue skies, lush forests, and a babbling brook running down the middle. It can be explained how it exists by geological shifts, filtering of light rays, evolution of biological organisms, and natural water cycles and erosion. None of that makes it less enjoyable for me to gaze upon.

I agree with Mike. I studied psychology because I was fascinated by how people think and behave, but I don't feel that people are any less people because they can be studied. Love is still love even when you stick it under a microscope.

I agree. Despite being quantifiable, the connection between the tiny pixels of color, or another person and the explosion of chemicals and hormones pulsating through your body is still a very deep and meaningful thing. And even though it may be 'scientific,' it isn't science that causes these things, science is merely the method we use to observe and describe what's really happening. I don't think it lessens the feelings we feel in anyway.

and the occasional likeable girl who I enjoy spending time with.

as for science? I think there are much better applications for science than the subject of love. Like lasers and velociraptors.
